It was a very hot. It was so hot that the sun was making steam rise off the wooden stands. It was the day I was going to win swimming sports.
The whole school was on the peeling wooden stands, then Jack called out in a professional, loud voice “Open race 100 metre Freestyle, boys and girls.” That was me!
I jumped off the hot wooden stands onto the cold cobblestones. When I got over there Mr K said “girls come on.” They finished their race. He said “Boys come on.” I felt excited.

I stood at the edge of the pool then Mr K held up his hands and said ready set go. I was off! I was speeding through the water like a swimming penguin! I was coming fifth. Two laps down two to go. I got to the end, tumble turned, I had one lap to go. I was hooning down the home straight. Boom I touched the wall. I was finished!
After the race I walked over to the marking bench. I said “I came fifth.” She said “Well done Josh! You tried your best.” I felt extremely proud of myself.
This had been my best year at swimming sports ever!
